rainbow slides rely entirely on gravity. While you can't control your speed as precisely as driving a car, you can still make subtle adjustments using your body position.
Your speed comes down to three main factors:
The slope: The steepness and layout of the track directly determine your acceleration.
Friction: The smooth surface and built-in rollers are designed to minimize resistance. (Fun fact: wet or cold conditions can actually make you go faster!)
Your weight: Heavier riders naturally pick up speed a bit quicker due to gravity.
How to control your ride:
To speed up: Lean forward to shift your center of gravity, or lift your knees slightly to reduce friction.
To slow down: Lean back for better stability, or gently drag your feet along the edges of the slide to create some resistance. (Just avoid slamming on the brakes!)
A quick safety note:
All professional slides are designed with built-in speed limits and safe run-out zones at the bottom. Always follow the staff's instructions, sit properly, and please don't try anything risky like diving in headfirst or sliding sideways. Have fun and stay safe!
